Youth Outreach Worker

The Youth Outreach Worker will proved services within a statewide collaborative aimed at providing a comprehensive program that maximizes opportunities for older youth in the foster care system to successfully transition to adulthood and permanence. Some responsibilities include:
  1. utilizing positive youth development principles and trauma informed approaches in establishing rapport and engagement with youth
  2. timely conduct youth development and life skills assessments with youth and, as appropriate, youth caretakers
  3. Works with youth to identify current and historical pro-social adult relationships
  4. works with youth to enhance relationships with immediate and extended family
  5. promotes program practices that enhance permanency options for youth
  6. helps motivate youth for participation in vocational/career support and financial literacy
  7. Help client develop and maintain independent living skills
  8. assist client in obtaining and maintaining employment, acting as a liaison with employer when necessary
Qualifications: BA/BS in Human Services related field preferred. Work experience with DCYF involved youth and families, provider community and/or related service providers.  Valid Driver’s license and transportation.
Experience: At least one year prior experience with adolescents and familiarity with youth in state foster care system required
