Our Services

Tides Family Services provides a vast array of programs devoted to maintaining high-risk youth in the community by supporting and strengthening families and helping youth remain in school. Our mission is to provide every youth with proper support from parents and caregivers. We never reject a youth or family. We never give up on a kid…Never! To accomplish our mission, Tides has developed a broad spectrum of family services called the Preserving Families Network (PFN).

I cannot think of a more effective program for delivering services to high risk youths and their families
~Gov. Donald Carcieri

Here is a breakdown of these services:

  • Outreach and Tracking
  • Alternative Education
  • Educational Advocacy
  • Home Based Clinical Services
  • Special Education Evaluation
  • Fee for Service Clinical Counseling

Outreach and Tracking:

An intensive community based program which includes a 24 hour, 7 day per week component. This program calls upon Tides staff to make evening home visits. Its goal is family preservation and school completion.

Alternative Education:

Tides operates three storefront school locations with classrooms for students who have IEP’s (Individual Education Plans) and who have been unsuccessful in traditional educational settings. By providing these locations for the youth, Tides enables them to redirect their path from one of failure to success.

Educational Advocacy:

When students and their families are not being provided needed services, Tides partners with Educational Advocates of Rhode Island to obtain those services. Should barriers arise, Educational Advocates provide consultation and legal assistance.

Home Based Clinical Services:

These are intensive treatment programs that are family focused and designed to address specific areas of client growth. These services can be enhanced by additional “wrap-around services” which are an array of essential programs designed to meet the basic human needs of the clients and their families.

Special Education Evaluation:

This program administers individualized tests to evaluate and assess their skill levels in reading and math.

Fee for Services Clinical Counseling:

This program addresses the needs of youth and their families and includes victim and offender evaluations. It is funded by the RI Department of Children, Youth and Families, the Neighborhood Heath Plan, Blue Cross, United Health and Medicaid.
